Visit the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre
If you’re at a loose end this weekend, why not visit the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre for some educational fun!
One of Ipswich’s must-see attractions, the centre is home to a range of aviation vehicles and other military memorabilia, including a World War II Boston Bomber, aircraft equipment, reconnaissance cameras, a pop-up air raid shelter, and cockpit modules.
The heritage centre is run by a group of volunteers who are all involved in the research, restoration and display of the aircrafts and other important historical pieces.
Only a 15-minute drive from Dawn and free of charge to visit, the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre is a great weekend activity for all ages. The centre is open from 9 am to 3 pm, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the third Sunday of every month (excluding December), and offers tours at 8:30am, 9:30am or 12:15pm.
As this centre is located within the current RAAF military base, visitors must book in advance.
